Brett Banker - Principal / Superintendant

I want to start by saying thank you for all the well wishes. I am looking forward to meeting as many of you as I can throughout the coming year. It has been a warm welcome to Montana and Helena Flats for that I am appreciative.

I am excited to be here and look forward to the wonderful year ahead. It is obvious from the many conversations that Helena Flats is doing great things and offers a lot for students. The pride in the school and community is high and that is always exciting.

I have been in education for 17 years. The last 6 years have been spent as superintendent and the previous 11 were spent as a classroom teacher. My philosophy for life and education is simple respect others. Respect for others is shown by being kind regardless of how you have been treated, being honest even when it is hard and be your best in everything whether schoolwork or play. I believe education is the single greatest gift you can give a child. Everything in education should be centered on safety of the child and student learning. When that is the goal every child will be successful.

On a personal note, I have been married for 26 years to my high school sweetheart, we have 3 beautiful children, 2 boys and a girl, ages 16, 15 and 11. We love fishing, hunting, hiking and just being outdoors. I am a transplant from Oklahoma where I was born and raised. So far I love everything Montana has to offer and look forward to experiencing much more.

If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to set up a time to come visit.

Best Regards,
Brett J. Banker
